Private adoption can be expensive, but there are many ways to make the adoption process affordable to you. Below is a list of resources to help the financial burden of adoption. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding funding options. Also please note that most grant applications require a completed home study first.

  • Adoption Tax Credit
Currently in 2010 the federal government gives a federal tax credit of $13,170. This is a credit, not a deduction, meaning you receive $13,170 back from the government for each child you adopt or attempt to adopt, failed or successful, as long as you meet the income requirements and have paid that much towards your adoption. The tax credit is now refundable, meaning you will receive the full amount of the tax credit regardless of what you have paid in taxes. The phase-out income limits have been increasing every year, along with the tax credit amount. Currently the phase out limit is $222,180 adjust gross income.
